Design Space 3: Upload Images with Drag and Drop

I think the ability to upload images to the new Cricut Design Space 3 by drag and drop is probably the thing I like the most about the updates so far.

I have so many SVG files on my computer but haven't uploaded them to Design Space until now because of how long it used to take in DS2.

I mainly use my iPad for cutting since my main computer is not in my craft room.   I usually just use my desktop for uploading, although I do like how the new DS3 seems a lot like the iPad app.

I have a folder full of free SVG files that I downloaded from Birds Cards a couple of years ago when I first upgraded to the Cricut Explore from the Expression2.

The new drag and drop feature makes it really easy to upload files to Design Space 3.
Click on the Upload Image button - it lists the types of files that you can add.

The Drag and Drop screen will open, select your file and drag it into that box.

Your image will show up on this screen -  I added in tags to make it easier to search.
Then hit save...

And then your image shows up in the Recently Uploaded Images section.

Nice and fast.  As I do this I am also dragging and dropping into Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, which I run off of an external hard drive with my Mac Mini to save space.  I've saved my zipped files in my OneDrive account and am deleting the copies off of my hard drive as I upload to the software.

Camping Layouts with Creative Memories Digital Artwork

I knew when I saw the newly released Creative Memories Adventure Collection that it would be perfect for scrapping our camping layouts.  The graphics in this kit match our coastal British Columbia terrain. Even though we live near the ocean, we are surrounded by forests, mountains, and lakes.

I decided to use this kit for digital layouts of a camping trip we took back in the summer of 2010.
As much as I love traditional scrapping, sometimes digital is the way to go.  I wanted these layouts to have large photos to showcase the lake and mountainside views.  The new Adventure Collection is the perfect accent to these pictures.

I chose to go with a Project Life style layout.  Using My Memories Suite software I was able to create my own templates then fill in with photos, and add in the digital artwork using Creative Memories papers and mat packs and a few coordinating digital embellishments.

This layout uses two digital images from the CM Adventure Mat Pack.  I added text to the top of each image and matched the text colour to the bottom layer of the "Roughing It" outline.

This layout also uses two Adventure mats and I added my journaling to the larger box. I added the canoe embellishment and adjusted the opacity so it is just a shadow in the corner of the journaling box.

For this layout, I used the woodgrain paper from the Woodland Whimsy Boy paper pack to create the background of my journaling box.  Using the colour picker tool, I changed the text colour to match the dark brown of the slats.  The three embellishments are from the CM Gallivant digital kit - I thought they would work well with this page.  I love how versatile the kits are.   With My Memories Suite software, you can change the colours of embellishments.  For this layout, I decided to change the arrow to green instead of the original red.  I used the colour picker and matched it to the green on the "Let's Go" embellishment.

This layout uses the rock paper from the Adventure digital paper pack - I wanted it to match the mats that I used in my second layout.

I used the Woodland Whimsy boy paper again but added the Happy Camper graphic from the Adventure kit over top.

The Artwork for these layouts is available for purchase in Canada on my Creative Memories website. You can also use the Advisor Locator to find a CM Advisor near you.

My Memories Suite V8 software is available to purchase on their website - use code STMMM3762 for $10 off software purchase or 10% off photo books and gifts.   You can download a free trial of the software if you'd like to try before you buy.

CM May Advisor Join Special

Creative Memories is back and better than ever!

Just $59 to get started and you get a $15 product credit added to your account to help you get started. Plus a free personalized website.   No minimums - EVER - this was a game-changer for me.

Join during May and you will receive a free Creative Memories Bag ($59 value)

I started scrapbooking over 20 years ago with the old Creative Memories and would have loved to have been a Consultant but I had two young children and was already involved with Watkins at the time.  One of the things I really loved with Watkins was that there were no minimums involved - I could work as much or as little as I needed depending on our circumstances and didn't have to worry about getting kicked out if I didn't make a quota.

I didn't scrapbook for a long time, and when I started up again in 2014 the old CM wasn't around.  I've done a lot of scrapbooking these last three years but was really missing my strap-hinge albums.  I heard CM was back and under new ownership with the same high-quality product line.  I made my first purchase a year ago and was hooked!  I looked into the new compensation plan earlier this year and decided that this was the direction that I wanted to go with my paper crafting business.

I love that the new plan is cumulative.  No more having the plan roll over at the beginning of each month. And based on my past sales & purchases with the other companies that I've been with that have had quarterly minimums, I know that I will have no problem reaching the next level or higher.

If this sounds like it is for you I'd love to have you join my team.  Full details are available on my CM website.

Bash My Stash: Love This Layout

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Another layout using up my CTMH Happy Times scraps.  This will go beside the 50th Birthday page that I posted the other day.

I used a stamp from CTMH This & That stamp set and heat embossed it in Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder.

The chipboard title and hearts are from a Heidi Swapp Project Life kit.  I used up the other half of the shimmer trim that I cut for the Birthday layout.  I'm still loving this paper and am happy with all the different cards and layouts that I've been able to get out of this one pack.

Bash My Stash: 50th Birthday Layout

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Here is one of the last layouts that I needed to do to finish my 2001 Album.

I've been using a lot of scraps on my layouts, so everything except for the floral strip had already been cut and stored in a bag with my CTMH Happy Times paper pack.

I cut a 12" strip of Gold Shimmer Trim in half then adhered the zip strip that went with the wood-grain print underneath it.

The title was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder.  I did all the stamping after I had adhered my patterned pieces to the background page.  The We R Memory Keepers Precision Press allowed me to line my stamps up right where I wanted them on the 12x12 page.

The flowers are from the CTMH Happy Times stamp set,  I stamped them with Blossom and Pomegranate ink and the leaves are stamped with Fern ink.  I used my Silhouette Portrait with the PixScan mat to cut all the stamped images out.  No more fussy cutting!   And no tendinitis flare up from overusing my hands.   I added some CTMH Gold Bling Gems to the centre of my flowers and added a chipboard piece from a Heidi Swap Project Life kit.

Bash My Stash: Title page for 2001 Album

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I've been doing a lot of scrapbooking lately and so I haven't been posting much.  I've managed to almost complete my album for 2001 that I started mid-February.

I've done over 30 pages so far, just a few more to go.  I have been doing the layouts and then going back and adding my journaling and cutting all my titles with the Cricut all at once.  It seems to work best for me that way, I've been getting way more done since changing to that system.

I joined the Bash Your Scrapbook Stash Facebook Group and that has also really motivated me. Since going through my craft room and doing some reorganizing for better flow I've been able to go to my older papers and embellishments and have been using up quite a bit of my stash.

I've been saving this Stampin' Up Razzleberry Lemonade paper for years, I love the colors but for some reason never cut into it except to make one card.

I found this photo of a sunrise that I had taken after we had moved and the Razzleberry Lemonade paper seemed a perfect match. I paired it with another photo that I had taken of the view off of our back deck from the townhouse that we had been renting before we bought.   I decided that this would be the title page for my 2001 album and since we moved in February of that year I figured that the "out with the old" title was a fitting theme for the book.

My journaling came out crooked but my hands have been really sore lately and so I was having a bit of trouble with the writing.  I could use the printer but I really do prefer to have the journaling done in my own writing, good or bad.

All the Cricut cuts were done using the iPad app and my Cricut Explore.   The title is cut using the Augenblick font. The doily is from the Edge to Edge cartridge and the tab is from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge (retired).

Here is the sketch that I used for inspiration:

Changing It Up In 2017

I'll be making a few changes here over the next week or so - I have decided not to continue on as a CTMH Consultant and instead will be focusing on different product lines and techniques.  I will be sharing links to my Consultants site for anyone looking for a Canadian Consultant.

As far as scrapbooking goes, I have just signed up with Creative Memories - I started scrapbooking with them back in the mid 90's and was happy to see them back last year.

I am also an affiliate with a few other paper crafting companies and will continue on with that.  I love paper crafting and will continue posting as I have in the past but won't be so focused on one product line.   I'm looking forward to this change - stay tuned for my adventures with Distress Oxide Inks - my latest must-haves addition to the craft room.

Flash Sale on We R Memory Keepers Precision Press at Scrapbook.com

One of my favorite new tools is on sale right now for the super low price of $14.99 (regular price $35) at Scrapbook.com

I bought the Precision Press last fall when it first came out and love it.  I have tendinitis in my left thumb which makes holding acrylic blocks difficult (and painful) when stamping.  Since the Precision Press doesn't use magnets that I also have a hard time with, I decided to order it and see how it worked for me.

Here's the video I made on Facebook Live when I first tested it out (don't mind the first few seconds where it flips around - I almost lost my wifi connection as I started):

I've also bought a Hampton Arts Stamp Perfect since making the video. It is similar to the Misti but was around $20 at my local Michael's with a coupon.   It does have the small magnets and while I like the style of it, I do find the magnets a bit of a pain to pick up and have had to cover them with Washi tape to make them easier to handle.

Title Page for 2000 Scrapbook using Bella Blvd Molly Collection

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I realized that I haven't added any recent projects to the blog in the past couple of weeks.

I've been spending a lot of time in my craftroom lately and finally finished my albums for 2000.
I ended up splitting the year into 2 books because one was just too thick with all the extra Flip Flaps™ that I included.

I was able to get a matching album in the CTMH clearance section, so I have both in the Slate Circle post bound album and I changed out the posts that are included with the album to smaller 1" posts so all the pages are laying nice and flat.

I've also started on my 2001 album, which won't be as thick since we didn't have as many pictures printed for that year.

Here is the title page for my 2000 album:

I chose a couple of leftover photos that didn't have a theme but were taken at the beginning of the year.  My son is a clown and I have lots of pictures of him making faces for the camera.

For this layout, I used a free sketch that I downloaded from Scrapbook Generation and the Bella Blvd Molly Collection.

I created the two titles in the Cricut Design Space App using the Augenblick Font.

I love how intricate the cut is using my Cricut Explore.   The title was cut out of plain Black cardstock and I added some shine with my CTMH Clear Shimmer Brush.  I also applied it to the Thin Cuts Hearts at the top of the page.

Card for CAS(E) this Sketch 206

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I had been working on some fall layouts earlier this month and had a bunch of scraps from the Jen Hadfield Warm and Cozy line sitting beside my craft mat when I saw the latest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch!

Perfect excuse to take a break from doing layouts and finally use the Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy Stamp Set and matching Dies that I bought a few months ago.

Stamping is so easy with my new Hampton Art Stamp Perfect Tool.
I was able to stamp the sentiment after adhering my patterned cardstock to the base and get it lined up just the way I wanted it.  No more dropping acrylic blocks or misaligning my stamped images because my hands are sore.

Card for Mojo Monday 480

My latest card for Mojo Monday had a little extra help from a 6x6 OSW pattern.   I had cut the pattern pieces from my Swan Lake cardstock sampler before Christmas but hadn't made any of the cards.

I ended up combining the cuts that were meant for a couple of different cards from the template to come up with my MOJO 480 card.

I used CTMH Canary & Poppy Ink with the rock n roll stamping technique to create my Chrysanthemum.  I added some shimmer to the petals with my CTMH Gold Shimmer Pen.

Fall Memories Scrapbook Layout with Simple Stories Hello Fall

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I love this pattern from the CTMH Cherish How-to Book (page 41) so much that I have used it twice in my album from 2000.

Just by changing up the cardstock and adding some large Flip Flaps on my other layout I get a completely different look to my pages.

I found the SVG for my page title on the Miss Kate Cuttables website and cut it with my Cricut Explore.

I've used an assortment of solid cardstock on this layout, mostly trying to use up what I have in my stash and coordinating as well as I could with the Simple Stories - Hello Fall patterned papers.

I used hemp twine for embellishment on each page and added in some mini staples.  I really wanted just to keep it simple and masculine.
